How to Tarp a Roof after a Hurricane

Many of us (myself included) found roof damage after Hurricane Irma and now need to tarp our roof to minimize leaking while we wait for the insurance company to stop by.

If your new to Florida Hurricanes or for some reason have just never had to tarp a roof, here is a quick and simple guide that outlines the basics of tarping a roof in Central Florida.

I’ve also included some basic roofing fixes for minimal damage that I’ve used on my roof this hurricane season.

Florida Skydiving Center Review

Looking for an adrenaline rush and maximum intensity? If so, you’ll want to check out the Florida Skydiving Center in Lake Wales. Even though this is a Winter Haven website, this is a great local option if you’re in Winter Haven and willing to make a small drive for some intense adventure. (Besides, you can see Winter Haven when you’re up there.)

So kick back and walk through my FIRST TIME skydiving experience with me to see if this is something you might want to do. If you’re like me, skydiving is one of those things you put off because there always seemed to be something better you could spend the money on. Now that I’ve had my first jump, I definitely would have taken the plunge much sooner had I known how incredible it was.

It’s never too late though, just ask my friend Fred who did his first jump when he was 84 yrs. young. (pictures coming soon)

27 Closest Places to Eat Near Legoland

When Legoland closes it’s doors and kicks you out, you’re gonna be hungry. Maybe you’re exiting the park and on your phone right now looking for the closest places to eat near Legoland. If you’re a visitor looking for a convenient place to eat, this post is for you.

Not only are these restaurants near Legoland, they are the absolute closest ones to the theme park. Every single restaurant on this list is less than 3 miles (4.83km) from the LEGOLAND entrance.

Perhaps you were too busy waiting in line or walking from the back of the theme park because you didn’t follow our Legoland Waterpark Hack (#5 of our post 13 Things to Do When You Visit Legoland), or maybe you purposely didn’t eat so you could save a few dollars by eating somewhere cheaper.

Regardless of the reason for your predicament, we’ve got you covered. Below are the closest places to eat and their approximate distance from the famous Merlin Entertainment theme park.

When possible, we have inserted links to their menu. A few don’t have menus online and in those cases there are links to their websites, Facebook pages, or a picture of their physical menu.

This post is organized differently than others, it’s literally intended for people leaving Legoland and looking for somewhere to eat so it’s organized as described below…

When you exit the Legoland theme park, you’ll come to a stop light on Cypress Gardens Blvd.

This post based on which direction you go at the light (left, straight, or right.)

Main Entrance to Barton Storage.

If you’re on the north side of Winter Haven and are looking for a storage facility, I recently had the pleasure of touring Barton Storage on Havendale in Auburndale. This storage location just opened and it’s one of the top self storage locations I’ve ever visited. Clean, climate controlled storage with onsite management is an ideal option for storing all of your supplies or household possessions. If you’re packing up your house or business items and looking for a secure location to store them, here are the top reasons the new Barton would be a great option for you.

13 Best Things To Do When You Visit Legoland Winter Haven

So you’ve planned a trip to Central Florida and LEGOLAND made the list. That’s great! If you’re staying in Orlando and planned a day trip to Winter Haven to visit the famous park, no problem. Just walk to the lobby of your hotel and there should be a bazillion brochures for touristy things to do.

However, if you stayed in or around Winter Haven during your visit, the choices aren’t so obvious. You could drive to Orlando every day to find something to do but a much more fun and relaxing option is to visit some of our local favorites. There are many things to do in the area and once you leave the park, you’ll still see more locals than you will tourists, which can be refreshing if you just came from Orlando.

Here are the 13 best things to do when you visit LEGOLAND with your family:

2 Infinity in Lakeland is Worth the Drive.

Entrance 2 Infinity

If you’re looking for something to do with the family and can’t quite find what you are looking for in Winter Haven, consider visiting 2 Infinity Extreme Air Sports in Lakeland. I’ve been to a few of these indoor trampoline places and this one wins hands down so I thought I’d write a little review. Without mentioning names of other similar companies, my first experience was during a birthday party at a chain brand in Orlando. It was extremely dirty and not well managed. Local kids who were obviously “regulars” were hitting other kids in the face with dodge balls and trying to start fights. The high school age workers on duty  seemed to be friends with them and if you complained they didn’t do much of anything.

Wednesday Night Review – Firehouse Subs

(1107 3rd Street SW)

Every Wednesday night we drop off our children at the church for a children’s program. During that time my wife and I get an opportunity to have a Winter Haven “date night”. Hence the title Wednesday Night Reviews. I will preface this by saying we are not always in the mood nor do we always have the time to go to a nice meal. We’ve never had taco bell but I’m not ruling it out.

This Wednesday we decided to try Firehouse Subs. If you’ve never been there and you like Sandwiches, give them a try. They have a really cool theme focused around Firemen which can be expected because the company was founded by entrepreneurial firemen. They also have a pretty good selection on their menu. The Winter Haven Firehouse Subs is located in the plaza almost right across from Wawa, near the AT&T store.

Where to get a good Christmas tree

Last year there were reports of thousands of bugs on Christmas trees, news 13 & University of Florida says this is not something you should worry about.

As Thanksgiving comes to an end and the Christmas season arrives you’ll want to get a good Christmas tree before it’s too late. Wait too long and you’ll end up with a Charlie Brown tree and nobody wants that.

I’ve visiting a few places and at this point most the trees look pretty good. If you’re like me, a tree is a tree as long as it’s full and the right size. I buy a tree out of convenience usually, based on where I’m at. However, if you’re here reading this, you haven’t gotten yours yet so here are the local prices.
